To commemorate the entry into the year 2020, I wanted to capture, document and publish few of the interesting buildings (mainly towers) in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. As I see this project and culmination of years of experience in living in Kuala Lumpur, I wanted to share a little bit of my excitement and wonder of this bustling and humid city I call home.
As 2020 is both an iconic timestamp and a milestones for many of us, marrying the buildings into a calendar would be the logical choice to deliver the photographs out.
For publication, I designed two sizes, letter and A5 size to suit both functional and the look of the calendar. The use of strong and minimal font would also compliments the minimalist look of the calendar. For this set, I opted for Gotham.
The photographs are taken on the month before 2020 starts using Nikon D5000 and edited in Lightroom. Lastly it was composed into the calendar via InDesign.
Main elements of every photographs would be buildings, clouds and skies. This is to represent the hope and optimism coming into 2020, how 2020 used to be this grandeur ambition that we 90s and 00s Malaysians often heard. The product of this ambition are interlinked with these skyscrapers.
