Low-Polygon Surreal Portrait

My Exploration of Adobe Illustrator
I had very little experience using Illustrator before being introduced to it through my GIT 230 class. In order to learn more about the program, I decided to start a personal project using this portrait I took as the reference image. I created this surreal portrait in 2017 but decided to create a low-polygonal portrait rendering of it. To create this effect, I mapped out her features into a bunch of triangles using the pen tool and polygon shape tool. Then, I spent time making sure the anchor points of all the triangles were touching by averaging their points in outline view mode. I then sampled the fill colors using the eyedropper tool and mapped out the details in the eyes to give them highlights and dimension.
