One of the greatest philosophers of ancient Rome, forced to commit suicide to avoid the stooges of his former pupil Nero. Regardless of his brilliant works, I wanted to remember him to underline  his fatal forgetfulness that is clearly emphasized in the ancient and popular Taoist saying: "not a hair of my shin for the glory of the empire" . This forgetfulness was at the origin of all his misfortunes,  and the sentence warns about the danger of proximity to the central power of large and ancient bureaucracies

Uno dei più grandi filosofi dell'antica Roma, costretto a suicidarsi per evitare le torture dei tirapiedi del suo ex-allievo, l'imperatore Nerone. A prescindere dai suoi brillanti lavori, voglio ricordarlo per sottolineare la sua fatale dimenticanza che è chiaramente enfatizzata nell'antico detto Taoista: "Non un pelo del mio stinco per la gloria dell'impero!". Tale dimenticanza fu all'origine di tutte le sue disgrazie; la frase sottolinea il pericolo della vicinanza al potere centrale delle antiche burocrazie.
