Sundance Film Festival System
A system for Sundance Film Festival 2019. Created for Typography 2 February 2019
This has been one of my favorite projects to work on while in design school. For Typography 2, we were shown the previews for Sundance 2019, and how systems work for events as large as the film festival. We were assigned to redesign the system, including the poster, ticket, badge, and program.
My original idea was to make a system that was fun and in your face. I wanted to capture the essence of ads like the back-to-school ones that are shown by major retailers every summer. I love the bubbly, warm feeling I get looking at them, and I wanted this festival to feel that way as well.
I developed a system using photographs in halftones, brightly colored dots, and bold typefaces in even bolder colors for the headers. Though all of the pieces are different, they have similar aspects that make it come together in the system.
If I had more time, I would like to continue the system by creating items that would be used or purchased at the festival, such as memorabilia or maps. I would also love to incorporate screenprinting some of the halftone designs in some way.
