Jiwon Woo is a multidisciplinary media artist from Korea.

Jiwon Woo’s presentation “Mother’s Hand Taste” at the Korean Cultural Center focused on the social implications of food systems, looking at how cultural culinary traditions might be passed down through generations, even if food technologies are changing.

For the exhibition Santopalato, I directed and recorded an interview with the artist, and edited to be displayed in the exhibition hall. We sat together for an hour-long meeting on Skype, and I later edited the video with added Hungarian/English subtitles.

In the video, Woo talks some of the topics about her personal drive behind the project, influence of her cultural background, her interest in the notion of intangible cultural heritage, as well as her experience working at MIT design lab.

*The interview was showcased in relation to the artwork 'Mother's Hand Taste (son-mat)' at  <Santopalato> at Korean Cultural Center in Budapest exclusively.
