OVERVIEW
From a concept to a physical exhibition, there are many types of exhibition design for various purposes.

PROBLEM
In a group, explore and consider possible concepts for a mini exhibition that lasts for a day.

SOLUTION
To educate the audience about Synesthesia, which can occur between just about any combination of senses or cognitive pathways. People with this condition may see sounds, taste words, feel a sensation on their skin when they smell scents, etcetera.

After much brainstorming and planning, my group and I decided to curate our exhibition based on a chromesthesia (seeing sounds in colours) artist, Melissa McCracken as her works are impressive. We eventually chose a communal sitting area in the school basement that was newly built then, which was not only convenient but also comfortable with the right ambience. We had several small booths in the area, one of each with a different song and some painting materials. The task of our exhibition was to get participants to listen to these songs with earphones and paint what they 'see' in colours, be it abstract or not. Finally, we reveal Melissa's artwork to the participant based on the song they chose to paint. The outcome of the paintings only further emphasises how everyone is unique in the way they think, perceive and express. It was also interesting for the participants to try putting themselves in the position of Synesthetes.
