RAAF - Graphic novel

This graphic novel is a book about Raaf, a young adolescent boy who lives through the different aspects of being alone. Throughout the story we see him struggle with his identity, finding his true self, feeling accepted, while also struggling with social anxiety, depression and feelings of loneliness. He lives his life in solitude: no real contact with human beings. His only company is a group of birds. With them Raaf feels comfortable, safe and happy. But what happens when -they too- leave his side?

As the story progresses, Raaf changes more and more into a bird. His metamorphosis is a metaphor for the change he goes through, being a young kid and growing into a young man, in search of his own identity.

This book is illustrated, written and designed by me.
For this book I also designed a font, one that fit's the personality of Raaf and characterised his way of 'being' and speaking. The book is traditionally drawn, with East-Indian ink and a nib, grey and blue Ecoline, mixed in 3 various shades.

'RAAF' is self-published in a limited number of 100 books (for now). Each book is numbered and signed by me and comes with a music proposal (some music I listened to while creating the book, which I think became (an should be) a part of the overall experience).

The book costs € 35,- ex shipping. 20/100 still available.
