Editing & VFX by: Heratics

In 2010 and 2011 Heratics worked with producer Alex Jansen, Pop Sandbox, on the interactive online documentary and graphic novel KENK: A Graphic Pportrait. At that time Alex was working with author Richard Poplak, designer Jason Gilmore, Urgency Company, illustrator Nick Marinkovich, the NFB and members of the CFC: New Media Lab to develop a unique visual aesthetic for the novel. The final result was a beautiful, hand-made, grunge aesthetic that was both compelling and unique. Their vision was achieved through a painstaking, artistic process of photocopying, cutting, crumpling, coloring, printing and scanning. With this test we wanted to emulated the visual aesthetic they created using a digital process to expedite the workflow; essentially creating a filter that could easily be applied off-line to digital footage in post-production.
