Sports Slurpee - Making Slurping an official sport

Could slurping become a world sport?

For some reason, Slurpee drinkers around the world have always competed to see who is the fastest. 7-Eleven, the creator of Slurpee, decided it was time to lure these competitors out of the shadows with a campaign to legitimize their sport. They started by naming it (Sports Slurping), forming an organization (the OSOS), establishing the rules and developing an official product (the Sports Slurpee).
Through a dedicated website supporters could send electronic lobby letters to the heads of international sporting bodies. 52,000 lobby letters later, the IFOCE publicly recognized Slurping as a sport. For the first time, a product was not just a sponsor of a sport; it had become the sport itself.

The IFOCE has plans to stage international Sports Slurping heats. They’ll hold the first world championship on Coney Island, NY, in July 2010.
