4,000 locations
Every Lotto retailer in BC operates a BCLC Ticket Terminal. There are over 4,000 retail locations across the province. With a decade of developments in technology and new product offerings, the UI was in need of a refresh.
BCLC wanted a robust, clear interface that would lower the learning curve for training and give more power to... well, the power-users.
Retailer feedback showed that associating a product with colour provided the strongest brand recall for our users. This insight became the guiding principle for the UI/UX.
The UI needed to handle multiple options for products and services based on data from general and location-based game-play popularity.
We created a brand-refreshed touch-UI with improved visual recognition through colour-coded products and service areas. We improved clarity with intuitive visual grouping and a smoother sales funnel through a new check-out system.
The implementation of the new terminal UI for BCLC brick-and-mortar locations began in August, 2018

Previous versions of the interface
Over 120 screens and states were designed to cover functionality with varying complexity for a wide range of ages and types of users.
We built intuitive basket states for all possible checkout scenarios, even a can't-miss water stamp version for training mode.
