Samsung Tab 7.7 (Digital)

SITUATION
Because the GALAXY Tab 7.7 was a flagship product for Samsung, the client, eager to promote the tab, had gone ahead and enlisted ten bloggers to write reviews of the product, rewarding them with a Galaxy Tab 7.7 to keep.

SOLUTION
When we heard this, we asked ourselves if we could get more mileage from the client’s relationship with these bloggers, and proposed a crowd-sourcing project that would promote the Galaxy Tab 7.7, tapping the large readership the bloggers already enjoyed.

We decided to create a group storytelling online initiative about Agent 7.7 – a modern day James Bond or dynamic Sherlock Holmes who solves cases or mysteries with the help of his trusty Galaxy Tab 7.7.

We created a Facebook app, a place where our bloggers and readers converged for the group storytelling.

Each blogger used their writing skills to weave an interesting story about Agent 7.7 and his Galaxy Tab7.7 sidekick.

After clicking on their favourite blogger, readers could quickly catch up on the adventures of Agent7.7. The more readers there were online, the more profile pics appeared in the background.
Readers were invited to contribute to their favourite blogger’s story with a “plot twister”, a catalyst that would swing the story line to an unexpected direction.

Out of all the plot twisters contributed for the day, the blogger got to select one they wanted that best created an opportunity to make their story even more interesting.

Readers were then motivated to come back to read how the story progressed from the chosen plot twister. Samsung also added their own plot twister only to ensure that the story kept revolving around the product, encouraging the bloggers and readers to use the Galaxy Tab 7.7 in the story, showing how it helped Agent 7.7 solve his predicaments.

Every week the best plot twister was nominated and showcased on the Facebook page. Nominations were eligible to win a Galaxy Tab 7.7 after the five-week run.

The bloggers also updated their own blogs about their progress; this helped to reach out to more readers.

This crowd-sourcing initiative was engaging and a fresh new way to use bloggers, capitalizing on their main strengths: great writing, plus a ready readership.
