This study is aiming to research the methods those males and females have equal rights and value by stepping out of the box that a patriarchal society and stereotype of gender role created by society.
The target of the study was both males and females who do not be limited to men and women of all ages. The reason to choose these targets was that the study wanted to consider tendency and characteristic of both males and females to get away from biased recognition of feminism. The method of the study is as follows.
First of all, the concept of feminism was defined clearly through theoretical consideration based on advanced researches and literature of feminism and features of gender roles, position, and gesture that males and females universally think and make were analyzed. Second, the visual materials were made based on the analysis results to induce males and females to understand each other’s roles through direct and indirect experiences by switching their roles. In addition, the study suggested them to express the concept of feminism clearly based on their experiences.
For this project, research for chair production and positions by theoretical consideration and academic investigations about feminism and for visual design about feminism based on the photos and the board game by gestures and gender roles were conducted. In addition, the study investigated the effects and possibility of visual design and feminism by feminism-themed various visual materials. Moreover, this study is aiming to do away with stereotypes or misunderstandings of each other’s gender due to not only their different body structure but also positions and gestures which have been learned from parents or social convention indirectly and naturally since childhood.
The various types of works produced by this study created to understand the purpose of study easily through direct and indirect experiences. Therefore, the clear meaning of feminism would be delivered by understanding and respect for each other with breaking the mold of gender roles.
