Sanitary Napkin Incinerator
In this project I designed the Sanitary Napkin Incinerator for our College Campus, which can be installed on Washrooms making it easy for girls to throw the Pad, while still keeping the environment hygienic.
The Incinerator will process all the pads and turn them into ash which can later be picked up by some Cleaning person, from the Outlet provided below.
This problem was observed in my Research Methodology module done on sanitary napkins.
The girls usually throw their soiled pads in the dustbin, Stray Animals in the Campus and even in the Hostel searching for Food in those dustbins throw those pads out making the place very unhygienic making people feel disgust at seeing these soiled pads everywhere.
A Person who has to face this problem most is the Cleaning Lady, they have to pick up and throw them back, making them vulnerable to many infections.
This project was developed in keeping public places (Hospitals, Schools, Hostels, Airports, Railways and Bus stations) washrooms and urinals in mind. The problems were blockage to toilet plumbing, water clogging, use of plastic bag for throwing the pads.
The machine is automated and automatically goes on standby when not in use, saving the electricity.
A tray is added downwards to collect the ash after the process is done.
The full body is anodized-brushed and Metal coated. It has inbuilt smoke removal unit so it can also be installed in closed room. The vents are provided onto both sided form the easy removal of heat.
The machine is not made Wall-mountable for the fact that it can be placed anywhere and can be shifted, wall mounting (which most of the Incinerators uses) restricts.
The dimensions had to be decided keeping in mind the Lid Reach and the amount of pads it can store.
After much consideration, I chose 4' 6" Feet as its height from ground and the width was kept 1' 6" Feet.

It will be kept on floor, instead of making it Wall-mounted.
