Project Proposal for Nanyang Technologies University
Again, another past design that I did a few years ago in 2014 when I was interning at Pure Design Studio.
Our studio had projects from Nanyang Technologies University a.k.a NTU, one of the prestigious national university in Singapore. Although I was only an intern, my senior entrusted me with 2 projects, which I will describe below.
1. NTU Brochure Handbook for College of Science
NTU asked us to redesign the cover for the handbook. I quickly found out that the old design was outdated and not consistent between the different schools SBS (School of Biological Science) and SPMS (School of Physical and Mathematical Science). I came up with several drafts with different concepts and passed it to my senior and account manager.
Modern minimalist concept with polygon vector images. Image of atom for Discover Science cover, vector that resembles DNA for SBS and rigid structure for SPMS.
Text-masking concept - using images that depict science as the background of the title text. Discover Science used a picture of plant cell, SBS used a photo of a different cell, and SPMS used photo of chemical molecules.
To be honest, this looks better than expected.
Another draft which is a mix between the modern texture background with the illustration watermark that depicts the different studies in biology and physics - mathematics
2. NTU CN Yang Scholars
NTU asked us to make a A5 size image to welcome the new recruits of NTU CN Yang Scholars. The theme is "An Epic Journey of Discovery".
Thinking of different ideas to depict journey and discovery using many approach of experimentation, maze, blueprint, and a pathway, I came up with several drafts and these are the ones I'm quite satisfied in:
