MyLIT – Mobile App
MyLIT is an Android application forthe students of Limerick Institute of technology. This app acts as an assistantto the student giving them access to features such as Student Email, Maps ofLIT and a handy in-built ‘To Do’ list so they can easily organise assignments thusmaking them more easily remembered.
Feature 1:
The first implemented feature is a ‘to do’ list thatincorporates Androids ability to store data inputted by the user on a SQLitedatabase. The student can input an assignment and a period in time that theassignment is due. If the due date of the assignment changes they can change orupdate the details of the ‘to do’ entry.
Feature 2:
The second feature is access to student email. Thisincorporates Android web view capabilities and sends the user to the mobileversion of the LIT student email service. The mobile version is speciallydesigned for use on small handheld devices so it’s not as messy as the fullsite version. This will making checking those potentially important studente-mails a lot easier.
Feature 3:
This feature uses the Google Maps API to geo-locate a studenton a map and guide them through LIT. It displays a map of LIT and pin pointswere in LIT the student is. They can then see where they need to go next.
Additional Feature:
Anadded feature onto the app is a splash screen shown in the image below. Thisscreen fades in for six seconds and then fades out to display the main menu ofMyLIT. This feature adds a nice bit of functionality to the app and making itfeel more professional.
