The goal of this assignment was to use the medium of Informational Graphics to design a Timeline Info-graphic comparing the work of our chosen designer to that of several other designers. The designer I chose was Ivan Chermayeff. The challenge with this project was to figure out the best way to compare the work of five designers’ to that of Ivan Chermayeff in a visually engaging arrangement that appropriately reflected Chermayeff’s style.

This is the final version of the Timeline Info-graphic comparing the work of Ivan Chermayeff to five of his contemporaries, Paul Rand, Saul Bass, Milton Glaser, Ikko Tanaka, and Massimo Vignelli. This final iteration is similar to the previous version with a few additional examples and adjustments to placement of the various elements to increase legibility and improve the overall appearance. References have also been added in this final version.

This is the first iteration of the Timeline Info-graphic comparing the iconic designer Ivan Chermayeff to five of his contemporaries. This iteration includes photos of each designer, as well as information about what influenced them and design elements that characterized their work. A few examples of each designers work are shown around the timeline that begins with 1955 and ends with 1985. Color-coding is used to differentiate each designer. The overall structure of the timeline is reminiscent of Ivan Chermayeff’s style.

This second iteration of the Timeline Info-graphic includes more examples of each designer’s work, as well as some information about the designers.
