An accomplished film producer, David Nicksay has pioneered numerous 3D techniques used in films such as Walking with Dinosaurs 3D and Step Up 3D. Birth of the Dragon, a story about Bruce Lee, is David Nicksay’s latest project.

Birth of the Dragon is the story of Lee and Shaolin Wong Jack Man’s legendary kung fu fight, which took place in 1964 in San Francisco. The story is told from the perspective of student Steve McKee, whose allegiance is torn between the two teachers.

Released in September 2016 in Canada, Birth of the Dragon is directed by George Nolfi and produced by Groundswell Productions. Kylin Films, a Chinese company, was also heavily involved with the film. In preparation for filming and to increase cultural sensitivity, Nolfi embarked on a tour of notable Chinese sites that were important in the development of kung fu.

Written by Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J. Rivele, the film features Hong Kong-born actor Philip Ng, who plays Lee. Ng is a master of martial arts and an accomplished fight choreographer.
