Award-Winning Visual Identity - The Velvet Snail

The Velvet Snail
Visual Identity Project for an upscale French restaurant
This was a project that took place at the end of my first year of school. It began as a logotype project for Typography, then the menu was assigned and then finally spanned into Graphic Design I for the visual identity, which included packaging - a take away bag and wine box.

The packaging received Best of Jury at the Spring Jury Competition, while the menu received Honorable Mention. Both the menu and packaging received a Silver Louie at the 2013 Student ADDY Competition.
The logo for The Velvet Snail. Although drop shadows are traditionally not considered good design where typography is concerned, I chose that effect because in my mind, upscale dining would be done at night. I envisioned the signage to be steel with a purple-blue back light, reminiscent of a rich Parisian night sky.
