Nowadays, if I want to contact someone all I have to do is hit one button on my cell phone, whether they are in another country or just down the street. This one button will send a text that is sent and received within moments. The message is written in the same black font, the same text size, and same format every time it is received. You can’t get much more personal than that...My degree project is dedicated to finding a way to make text messaging a more personal experience. Whether you’re writing to someone you haven’t seen in a while or sending a quick note to your loved one, it’s important that that the person on the receiving end reads and responds to your message knowing how you felt when you sent it.
EmotoText is an iPhone application that allows text massaging to become a more personal experience while still having the speed and convenience of a regular text message. Unlike your average SMS application, Emototext allows the user to apply fonts, color, size, and sound to your text messages so the receiver has a clearer understanding of the message.
The clickable prototype is accompanied by a short animation showing how EmotoText can’t prevent a misunderstanding in a common situation.
