Enjoy an evening of 1920s themed revelry! We’re planning the party of the year to celebrate Florida Dance Theatre’s 20th anniversary, complete with food, fun, and dancing to a 1920s band. And you certainly won’t want to miss our Celebrities in Tutus ”jail and bail” style auction at the event where you can bid to put and keep your favorite local celebrity into a tutu. Celebrities who reach a high goal will do something extra funny to entertain the crowd, and the celebrity or celebrity team who raises the most will be crowned Prima Ballerina!

Florida Dance Theatre, Polk County’s only professional dance company and training academy, is proud to announce that it will be moving into a new, larger facility in January 2012. The building, which is owned by the Saxena family, is located on the corner of Lake Wire Drive and West Bay Street. Lunz Prebor Fowler Architects is creating a floor plan to completely renovate the building specifically to meet the needs of FDT.
The new facility will include three studios, the largest of which will have tiered seating for performances. Additionally, the new facility will feature dressing rooms, an office area, and a loft storage area. There will also be an outdoor patio that could be enclosed during a possible future expansion. This expansion will accommodate the growing demand for FDT’s training, as well as allow us to stage more intimate performances by our professional dancers.
In order to purchase needed equipment for the new building, FDT is embarking upon a capital campaign to raise funds for this exciting expansion. These items include mirrors, marley dance flooring, sound equipment, lighting, furniture, and other miscellaneous objects not included in the build-out. The builder has also agreed that any in-kind donations of construction work (i.e. plumbing, electrical, A/C) would be credited back to FDT.
We are currently seeking sponsors and contributions for the campaign. Please take a moment to review the sponsor and contribution levels outlined in this document. We have also included artist renderings of the new facility, for your reference. Several of the contribution levels include the opportunity to have a room named for your business or yourself.
