An Ants Life

This is a short Animation about an Ants test of survival.

I wanted to create a world that would be believable, within the size and scale of the scene. The majority of the animation takes place from the perspective of the ant, therefore I needed to concentrate on the little things, as well as the big things.

The water was a majour concern during the production, utilising Realflow I created high tension water that would in real life look somewhat gloopy but for the scale of the water would be realistic. The water needed to be this way purley because of the scale of the water compared with the larger world, the water produced in the animation to a human in real life would be maybe a tiny stream or a few drops, but to an ant it would seem like a river or a tsunami.

Due to render time and limited rescourses I had to sacrifice some assests mid-render, as well as turning certain layers of to speed up render time.

This animation was created with the following software packages:
Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Mudbox, Adobe Photoshop, Realflow, Mental Ray
