“China Kung Fu” device sculpture phalanx was created depends on 2010 Shanghai World Expo as a primary authoring platform, internationally renowned ceramic industry and kung fu in Foshan as context, described large social sculpture of Chinese legend. In this work, we could not only trace back five thousand years’ brilliant civilization of Chinese Han history, also could touch pulse of China’s reemergence in the international community.“China Kung Fu” gathers energy from all Chinese circles artistically thus releases deep interaction with the world on Expo and wits global development process, which becomes the most symbolic cultural totem sculpture when communicates with western culture. This is a work exceeding art and limitation of area which is involved variety emotions and energies.

In Shu Yong’s opinion, red is not only the color of China, but a enthusiasm color meaning power of reform. Array is a kind of sequence mode, arousing people with all kinds of power in good order. In “Tens of Thousands of People Singing the National Anthem in Red Uniform” behavior art, Shu Yong pushed red and array to the peak of art circles. Shu Yong chose the red color again for skillful control of red and array, extremely simplified vision and notion of China Kung Fu works by using single kung fu posture. Then through enormous array strengthens and magnifies the extreme, he created extreme strangeness brought by acquaintance with such extreme in public domain, provoking our visual habits and shocking and making us feeling novelty. Therefore, China Kung Fu is focused by all walks of life worldwide, reported by hundreds of media coverage at home and abroad. It is easy to arouse audiences’ emotions at site, people positively gathering in front of sculpture and taking photos kicking legs. Everybody wish themselves could perform China Kung Fu, so in movements of kicking or others, audiences were proud of playing kung fu. Emotions were released within these simple movements immediately. Shu Yong specially arranged 3 assistants for helping travelers took photos kicking legs. There are travelers standing in a long line waiting for it consciously.
