Irish Authors - Illustrated Excerpts

'Gulliver's Travels' (1/6) - July 2014

An excerpt from Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift. I chose to modernise my visual translation of the text and with a humorous approach.
'Letter from Bram Stoker' - (2/6) - July 2014

An excerpt from a letter Bram Stoker wrote on February 18th,1872, to a famous writer - which Stoker was not, at the time - Walt Whitman. In this excerpt, Stoker describes himself by negatively exaggerating his features - like a caricature. For me this visually translated as a caricature of a man with pride but low self - esteem.
'Letter from Oscar Wilde' - (3/6) - August 2014

An excerpt from a letter from Oscar Wilde to Editor of the “Daily Chronicle” [letter published 28th May 1897]. I thought a dark, gloomy illustration set in a tainted with age newspaper - as it would have appeared in a column - would suit the tone of the text and add a sense of the Victorian era.
