This is the cover page of the fictional magazine entitled "Maneuver". I took the photo used in the background myself, drew over part of the environment, and created the logo. The barcode at the bottom was made stylish, yet still functional to be read by a scanner.

This is the Table of Contents page. The background photo was also taken by me as I walked around Philadelphia for research. I wanted it to be part of the environment but still easily-read, and the street signs seemed like a fitting solution.
Here is the cover article detailing the 2009 Barclaycard World Freerunning Championship, which inspired me to use this topic for the magazine in the first place. All the instances of people were in the source image I used, but I drew the marker lines around them by hand, re-scanned them in and added the sharp white outline surrounding them. Much like in the cover, I also colored and drew over part of the background.

This is the 2nd spread for the cover article. This one is more subdued than the rest to show off the content better, rather than just the visual substance. A layout like this would be beneficial on pages with more text.
