Visual Sonance, pt. II

This is the second installment of a project I named Visual Sonance. I started it in 2020, with the goal of not only honoring great music that inspires me, but also to have fun practicing the software tools I've learned and mastered over the years.

For part two of Visual Sonance, I selected three albums that I have a deep connection with, and decided to develop a visual identity for them, by illustrating the cover art for 4 songs of each album.
Artist: Caroline Polachek
Album: Desire, I Want To Turn Into You

Desire, I Want To Turn Into You is an album that had and still has such a big impact on me and my understanding of what music is and can be. Caroline's artistry is reinventive, with songs that seem to create brand new structures, an outstanding vocal range and technique, and lyrics so complex you can easily get lost in. Her music inspires me profoundly, and often makes me think of what the boundaries of art are.
Artist: Weyes Blood
Album: And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow

This is an album that, not too long ago, I hardly imagined myself listening to. And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow incorporates many elements of folk music, has an overall slower pace and softer vocals. But the beauty of this album is precisely in these characteristics. Weyes Blood has such a rich approach to even the most difficult subjects, and her artistic vision is one I greatly connect with.
Artist: DUDA BEAT
Album: Te Amo Lá Fora

DUDA BEAT is an artist from my home country that stands out so much to me. Brazil has an extensive array of traditional and contemporary music, and it ranges between many different genres. DUDA manages to take inspiration from many of them + other international ones, and create a sound that is unique, full of cultural references, and with powerful, poetic lyricism.
Thank you!
