The Science of Sea Creatures

The Science of Sea Creatures
This was an experiment combining AR and animation and traditional illustration. These paintings were made with infographics, aquariums and museums in mind and they were created to be an easy way for anyone visiting an exhibit to learn more about the creatures featured.

This is the first main piece of research that I conducted when brainstorming possible creatures to feature in this project. I did not want to feature too many well-known creatures so I included quite a few with little information known about them. I also did some surface level research to see what was unique about them.

Tests
These tests as well as the final works were made using acrylics.

By this point, I had made the decision to feature the Peacock Mantis Shrimp and the Stoplight Loosejaw in this project. I chose these two because, to my knowledge, the Peacock Mantis Shrimp is relatively well known whilst the Stoplight Loosejaw is more uncommon and less is known about the species in general. I wanted the creatures I chose to be a mix of both well known species and more mysterious ones.
