This visualization shows the relationships within the family of felids, commonly known as cats, of which our domestic friends are only one of approximately 40 existing species and one of the most recent to have evolved. The evolutionary lines of each genus, from left to right, is indicated by colours. The size of each circles, at the top, is proportionate to the average weight of each individual (adult, male). For each species the IUCN conservation status is also indicated.
