Mayans, then and now

The mayan people were once a nation of ferocious warriors who built a vast empire controlling the entire Yucatan peninsular. The arrival of the conquistadors signified an ent to this great and proud nation, but their decendants live on. Often part of Mexico's poorer classes much the same as travellers are treated in the UK tour guides dont really want you to experience this side of mexican culture, instead replacing the truth with tall tales and ancient history.
