About Al-Hilal club
The tale begins in a clay house located in the Al-Zahira neighborhood of Riyadh. It is recounted by Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saeed – may he rest in peace - who was the sheikh of sports enthusiasts, the founder of Al-Hilal Club, and a prominent figure in the sports movement of the Kingdom. The story illustrates the journey of striving for aspirations, enduring hardships, and transforming visions into reality. According to Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saeed, the initial stages of the formation of Al-Hilal were arduous, and the idea of the club nearly vanished. Nonetheless, the team embarked on the task with sheer determination, convinced that sports held the same significance as politics. "The Olympic" started establishing itself with caution for an entire year. The club refrained from participating in friendly or charity matches with other clubs and instead focused on rigorous training and planning for a prosperous future. During this period, a considerable number of players joined the team. Finally, on the 14th of October 1957, the club was born. King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may he rest in peace - granted the club the name "Al-Hilal" by royal decree on the 2nd of December 1958, making it the first Saudi club to be royally named. To distinguish it from other clubs, the team chose blue and white as their emblem colors. A board was constituted to manage the club, with two advisors serving as members. In 1961, just four years after its inception, Al-Hilal achieved a momentous feat by winning the King's Cup.
