The Incredibles - Opening credits
About the project

During my 3rd year of Bachelor Digital Creation at My Digital School Annecy, I recreated an opening credit movie based on the art direction of the movie. I chose The Incredibles as my movie because I love the atmosphere of the movie but also because I found it interesting to work on the art direction of the movie.
Step 1: Graphic film analysis

First of all, I carried out a graphic watch to get a feel for the artistic direction of The Incredibles. In fact, I needed to look at both the films and the credits, which could help me in my design.
Step 2: Creating a storyboard

The second key stage I went through was storyboarding. In my eyes, this step is essential because it allows me to put my ideas on paper and see if they are feasible in terms of the minimum and maximum length of the motion design. This part saves time, because once my storyboard is complete, I don't touch it unless I need to make changes to my motion design.
Step 3: Visual and sound design

After the storyboard stage comes the preparation of the visual and sound elements for the animation. This stage is also very important for several reasons:

Vector character and set creation : To have the greatest possible freedom in animation, I had to import vector elements into After Effect. When animating a character, each part of the character's body that I wanted to animate must be in a different layer. Then, I could move the body parts of my characters individually.

Sound design : It was also very important to focus on the sound design of my video, as this is what will give it character. The animations produced can be synchronized with the music to give rhythm to the motion design.
Step 4 : Creating pre-compositions

It's essential to create pre-compositions to organize each scene and therefore each part of your animation. This is what I did for each part of my video. As a result, I've reduced the number of objects in my editing window.
Step 5 : Animation of opening credits

Once all these steps had been completed, I was able to start animating my motion design. To do this, I first imported the music I'd chosen to remake The Incredibles theme song, then imported each of my vector characters and backgrounds. I then made sure that my character movements and transitions were synchronized with the music. After completing my animation, I added credits at the end of the video for the direction and music.
