This photograph was a student project created in 2022, shot with a Nikon D3500 camera.

For this project, I used a technique called light painting, which utilizes a long exposure combined with a low ISO. The light seen in the photo was created by swinging a piece of lit steel wool, attached to a rope.

Capturing this shot was a thrilling experience. Firstly, entering a dark and foreign tunnel was enough to get the heart racing. Once my friend first swung the rope, sparks begun to fly and I could feel the heat on my face! I'm still surprised that I managed to escape without getting any sparks on my face---there were a few close calls.
