Stardust
Interactive installation

I discovered in my Master's research that through play and participation we can create a collective experience that gives us meaning. I found presence as an important quality in body-movement based interactions. This discovery led me to work beyond the screen in my final project, exploring an embodied type of interaction.

I used Professor Lawrence Krauss’ quote “you are all stardust” as a metaphor for interconnectedness, creating an interactive installation that through the playful situation of tag, participants can pass stardust (projected on the body) to each other, exploring the system and the physical boundaries between them.
Participants can experience themselves and their environment in a new way, focusing in the expression at the moment of interaction. The system allows the participant to be a creative actor, and the outcome is different every time of experiencing the installation, creating an enchanting experience.

Stardust was made with a motion sensor (kinect), custom software (openFrameworks) and projection in real-time.
