Memories in photos of July 18, 2022

In the summer of 2020, several times, I walked to Place Viau to photograph the flowers. At night or early in the morning. Rarely during the day because I walked at those hours to avoid passing people. To get there, I would pass by Viau Blvd. on the viaduct that overhangs the Metropolitan highway. Each time, I was taking a series of pictures of cars and trucks driving on the highway. One day, maybe I will publish a project of my best photos.

Last summer and this year, I went there once, a bit like a pilgrimage, although the pandemic is not yet over.

Here my best photos. If I made mistakes with the names of the flowers, please tell me.

The Metropolitan Autoroute portion in Montreal is the busiest highway in Quebec, the busiest section of the Trans-Canada Highway, as well as the second busiest highway section overall in Canada after Highway 401 in Toronto. (Wikipedia)

« Lavandula »
Lavandula  is a genus of 47 known species of flowering plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to the Old World and is found in Cape Verde and the Canary Islands, and from Europe across to northern and eastern Africa, the Mediterranean, southwest Asia to India.

The flowers may be blue, violet or lilac in the wild species, occasionally blackish purple or yellowish.

« Petunia »
Petunia is genus of 20 species of flowering plants of South American origin. Petchoa is a hybrid genus derived from crossing Calibrachoa and Petunias

In horticulture many terms are used to denote different types of cultivated petunia. These include Grandiflora, Multiflora, Wave (Spreading), Supertunia, Cascadia and Surfinia.

I found the name of the Dark Purple Petunia on this page.

« Fuchsia »
The first to be scientifically described, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic) about 1696–1697 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier.

Almost 110 species of Fuchsia are recognized; the vast majority are native to South America, but a few occur north through Central America to Mexico, and also several from New Zealand to Tahiti. One species, Fuchsia magellanica, extends as far as the southern tip of South America, occurring on Tierra del Fuego in the cool temperate zone, but the majority are tropical or subtropical.

In its online catalog Gardenia shows several varieties of fuchsia in different colors.

« Calibrachoa »
Like petunias, Calibrachoa is of the family Solonaceae. They are found across much the same region of South America as petunias, from southern Brazil across to Peru and Chile, inhabiting scrub and open grassland.

The flowers of calibrachoa are usually zygomorphic.* The only exception is Calibrachoa pygmaea.
Zygomorphic or floral symmetry describes whether, and how, a flower, in particular its perianth, can be divided into two or more identical or mirror-image parts.

For the names of the flowers, I consulted Gardenia.
I am not sure, but I think the name of this plant is Salvia.
You know this plant? Thanks for sharing the information with me.
« Verbena »
Verbena also known as vervain or verveine, is a genus in the family Verbenaceae. It contains about 150 species of annual and perennial herbaceous or semi-woody flowering plants. The majority of the species are native to the Americas and Asia; however, Verbena officinalis, the common vervain or common verbena, is the type species and native to Europe.

« Impatiens »
Impatiens is a genus of more than 1,000 species of flowering plants, widely distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere and the tropics.

Most Impatiens species are herbaceous annuals or perennials with succulent stems. Only a few woody species exist. Plant size varies depending on the species, from five centimetres to 2.5 meters.

The scientific name Impatiens (Latin for "impatient") and the common name "touch-me-not" refer to the explosive dehiscence of the seed capsules. The mature capsules burst, sending seeds up to several meters away.
In these three photos, you can see Viau Boulevard.

This photo of a beautiful red petunia is the only photo that was not taken on July 8, 2022. So...

Thanks For Watching!...
