This is NJ MC Ransom. He has a backstory that is…interesting…in respect to viral videos and criminal cases…and how other ppl can profit off of them…while you pay a debt to society. In 2021 he had quite the run w/ producer Nicholas Craven and positioned himself as the pen to fear. To bare remorse while compromising no strength is a feat made possible by humility counterbalanced w/ maturity. My Brother has that and a tenacious cadence that makes it easy to respect him technically…even if you hate Hip Hop. Saying things like “I’m a warrior in a garden/ not a Gardener in a war” is why I listen and I approached this piece like a paid project. I hate wack album covers. No disrespect to anyone but I do.

I wanted to embody the balance of light and dark in this man’s work. The reference photo was already heavily contrasted. The traditional yin yang symbol invited itself as a background. I used a Raven on the light side and a dove on the dark side to reverse polarity and offer movement. The medallion has my brand logo built in just as the crown insignia on the shirt has a mic in the middle. Nowadays I vector everything in AI and then go brush it down in PS.
