Digital Hyper Realistic Painting
After 25 hours of painting along the last two months, I'm very happy to share this new piece :)

THE PROJECT

I decided to challenge my digital painting skills by doing my first attempt to create a hyper-realistic piece. As inspiration, I chose my favourite theme: the divine female beauty ❤

I also wanted to make it a totally original work, so I decided to handle the whole process by myself. This means I wanted to take my own photo with my own camera, then use it as reference for my painting.
THE PHOTO

Last year a had the awesome opportunity to make a quick travel to Rome, and attend to the Shootout Italy workshop, a fantastic photographic event, impeccably organized by Maxu (Instagram: @maxu_it ), where in 2 days I had the opportunity to interact with dozens of beaultiful models, guided by very skilled masters. And there I had the chance to photograph the majestic model Giulia Biagioli (instagram: @big_frontina ) and took this photo which I later chose as reference for my painting.
THE PAINTING

Before start painting, I decided to get some adittional knowledge and inspiration, which I found in the on-line course from the master @fabiano_millani for hyper realism with oil painting. Surelly I'm far from being a good apprendice, but I was able to find great guindance to get my first steps. But since I'm working with digital painting I had the bennefits of ctrl+z, editable layers, and infinite ink 😅 (more practical, but surely less glamurous than real oil paint). But I challenged myself to avoid averlapping the original photo, and avoid using the dropper tool from photoshop. This means I needed to make my best on practicing my hand drawing and collour-blending skills.

And finnaly, to make sure for everyone that I kept my promise of making real painting, stroke by stroke, without editing nor reusing the original picture, I challenged myself to create a painting which shows MORE DETAILS THAN THE ORIGINAL PHOTO (check it out in my next post where I show some zoomed parts of the painting compared with the original photo.

I hope you enjoy this work, just as much as I enjoyed my journey and the outcome.

THE BEAUTY IN THE DETAILS

Here you can see a closer view of some of my favourite details in my last painting, compared with the original photo which I took as reference. I specially like the beauty of the eyes, and the cute, tiny and shiny hairs from the arm.
