ANOLOGOUS BOOK COVER DESIGN - A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME
The goal of this project was to re-design the cover-page of the book "A Brief History Of time" by Stephen Hawking using analogous media.
This meant that i could only use materials that was available to us before the introduction of softwares and digital design
Below is my thought process before starting the project in the form of a mindmap

To design the 4 book covers i used several materials and techniques that i thought would make this project look interesting.
Some of the techniques i used are:
1. foam board to create a 3D design
2. spray paint to create antique looking roman numbers
3. sponge painting for the galaxy
4. Thread to create the orbit
5. coffee dyeing and burnt paper effect to represent the big bang
Below are the final book covers
1.The first cover represents the big bang and the spiral represents time travel
2. The second one shows the black hole in the middle of the galaxy and also the large amount of time passed through some antique looking roman numbers representing a clock
3. The third one is a rough representation of the milky way and planets in the galaxy
4. The last one revolves around showing planets using symbology

By doing this project i got to really explore designs as it was completely hand made and we were not restricted in any way. i was able to use many materials and techniques that one usually wouldn't see in a book cover or mainstream graphic design. Every minute spent in making this was so fun filled which is why i couldn't just make one!
If i could change one thing about this project, it would be the typography. I think adding some cool looking digital typography on these covers would make a huge difference
