Introduction: I've always had a fascination for the Napoleonic wars. The squaller of individual citizens must have been great motivation to join a group that wore ornate and colorful (uniform) uniforms. The style of warfare is and was quite appalling.  Who would willingly stand in line to receive a volley from an opposing unit?  The level of brutality with such inaccurate weapons as muskets and long bayonets must have made for an extreme level of trauma (should anyone come out of such things alive). To know that Napoleons' "Old Grand" refused to surrender at Waterloo, is so hard to understand. 

Alas, we are still not learning from all these pointless losses.  Let's hope for greater things in the future.
