I've loved baking since I was little. One of my earliest baking memories was waking up early Saturday mornings at my grandma's cabin in McCall, Idaho where she and I would  make her famous bran muffins while the rest of the family was still asleep.

When I was around 10 or 11, I attempted my first cake. I didn't realize that "tall" cakes had layers of cake with buttercream between them so I used a glass casserole dish to bake the cake in. It was a disaster, but while the center of the cake was raw, the edges tasted quite nice.

When the cupcake craze took over the nation when I was in my late teens/early twenties, I became a cupcake baking machine and for the first time in my life I was experimenting with writing my own recipes. I ended up developing recipes over years and would force my baking experience on family, friends, co-workers.

As I did so, I began to hear a phrase over and over again: "This is the best cake I've ever had." One night after hearing those words one too many times without being paid for it, I decided to start my own bakery.

The name "Tender Crumbs" came to me almost instantly. The domain was available. The Instagram handle was available. I designed the logo in less than an hour. It was my grandparent's anniversary and the adoptiversary of my beloved cat, Kalvin, so I think it must have been fate.

I now operate my tiny Tender Crumbs out of my kitchen and find joy in creating stunning cakes for my wonderful clients.
