TVO network has been around since 1970, but in recent years an aging viewer audience has led to the perception that TVO is “the boring station for nerds, intellectuals and grandmothers”. Yup. The challenge was to prove relevance for a younger boomer demographic, build a contemporary brand and secure long-term survival and funding. With a strong focus on current affairs, TVO’s mission is to inform, inspire and provoke all Ontarians to fully engage with the world around them, in short, to make people think. It’s the only network that truly takes issues apart, looks at every angle of a story and provides the full picture on things that matter. Here, the viewer is drawn in by group photo of people in uniform. On the surface, these people have something in common, but that doesn’t mean they have a common point of view. In fact, look a little closer and the viewer sees just how different these people are, and just how many angles every issue can have. This is the embodiment of what TVO does: makes people think.
