Olympics Kuala Lumpur 2032

The Olympic Games is a global sporting event where thousands of athletes across the world can participate and compete. Over the years since it has been founded, the Olympic Games have been held in many different countries.

For this student campaign project, we were given the scenario of what if Malaysia has been shortlisted as one of the countries to host the Olympics 2032? Being shortlisted as a potential host country, Malaysia will need to build a strong proposal and identity to stand a chance to be chosen.

Problem: How do we link a country and a global sporting event with rich histories together?

Idea: New twists are introduced to historical symbols of the Olympics (the Olympic flame) and Malaysia (the keris) by combining them with fire from the athletes’ passion.
The Logo:
The Olympic Games is where athletes can come together to compete and show their passion for their chosen sport. The new logo takes on the Olympic torch and gives it a modern Malaysian feel and meaning by combining it with the keris. We used Bauhaus as a source of inspiration to execute our logo.
The Poster Ads:
Using vectors to form the athletes rather than using photo manipulation. Having vectors will keep in line with the theme of giving a new visual twist to the sports that have been part of the games for a long time.
The Mascots:
As Olympics Kuala Lumpur 2032 approaches, 3 fairies who watched over the Malaysian clear skies, rich rainforests and bountiful oceans emerged from their homes to cheer on all competing athletes:

Ria (Red) - The youngest of the guardian fairies. He is the Guardian of the Sky. He lives a life of freedom and is carefree. He is very friendly. Like the birds of the sky, he loves to sing to cheer people up.

Lau (Blue) - The eldest among the guardian fairies. She is the Guardian of the Oceans. She seems aloof at first, but she is actually hardworking and very caring. Like the oceans, she is mysterious, only revealing the depths of her personality to people who are choose to get to know her.

Tari (Orange) - The second of the guardian fairies. He is the Guardian of the Rainforests. He is smart and powerful, always finding ways to defeat his opponents. Like the plants in the rainforests, he is hardy and can survive in the toughest of situations.
Livery:
For the bus, keychain and t-shirt designs, vector shapes of flames or the new Olympics logo were used as part of the design.
