Microsoft Forms started as an online application for educators and workers to easily create quizzes and tests, but now, it is available for a larger audience.
Microsoft Forms is a web application used to create polls, surveys, and quizzes, or tests but essentially a form in which you can capture the data from other users. When educators use forms to make the tests or quizzes, it will automatically score the results of the tests. When used for all kinds of polls, it will track responses with the help of its built-in analytics.

Microsoft Forms are available for all the Microsoft 365 Education Users and those who are using Microsoft 365 for their business, and any Microsoft accounts like Hotmail, Outlook, or Live.

How to Use Microsoft Forms?

Users can straightforwardly use Microsoft Forms. Users can choose what they want to make a form or a quiz, and the difference between them is that quizzes have correct answers and can be scored. After that, you can build your Form, and then you can share it with your desired audience, and then you can review the results with Forms’ built-in analytic display.

How to Get Started With Microsoft Forms?

Microsoft Forms are available at Microsoft 365 application and if you have a Microsoft account. Here are some steps how to started it, and they are mentioned below – 
Firstly you have to sign in to your Microsoft accounts, such as your Microsoft 365 work or school account or Microsoft Outlook account.

Now in the list of apps, you must find “Forms.” Now you may need to click the application menu and then choose “All Apps.”

Now click “Forms,” or you can go directly to the Microsoft Forms page and sign in with your Microsoft account credentials.

The Forms page has a row of templates on the top of the page, including options to create a new form or a new quiz. There are several additional templates, and you can see that when you click on “More Templates.”

When you have already created one or more forms, it will be shown below the templates where you can use it as a list of recent forms, and from there, you can click on any form for further use. If you want to see all your previous forms, then click “All My Forms.”

How to Create a New Form?

When you want to create a survey or poll, then click “New Forms.”
Now click “Untitled Form,” and you can give a name and description to your Form. If you want to add an image on the Form, you can click the image button on the right and add an image.

Now click “Add New.”

Now a popup menu will be open, and from there, you can choose the kind of entry you want to create for your Form. It can be multiple choice questions with buttons and a free form like fill-in blanks text entry and any entry in which the user needs to assign a star, date entry, and many more.

When you select the entry option after that, you can fill in all the necessary details and then enter the question and answer choices, for example. Now you can allow multiple answers and specify when an answer to the current question is required.

A toolbar that is mentioned at the top of each question gives you some additional options.
When you want to create a duplicate question, then click on the “Copy” icon.
The “Trash” icon deletes the current questions.

You can use the up and down arrows to change the question order.
At last, click “Add New” to continue to add items into your Form till it is complete, and when it is complete, then you can move to preview and share it.

How to Create a New Quiz?

Firstly click on “New Quiz.”
Now click “Untitled Quiz,” and then you can give a name and description to your quiz. If you want to add an image on the quiz, you can click the image button on the right and add an image on your quiz.

Now click “Add New.”

Now a popup menu will be open, and from there, you can choose the kind of entry you want to create for your quiz. It can be multiple choice questions with buttons and a free form like fill-in blanks text entry and any entry in which the user needs to assign a star, date entry, and many more.

When you select the entry option that you can fill in all the necessary details, but it is a quiz, you have some additional options, and the “Choice” and “Text” questions have the correct answer. 

Now you can assign a point value to each question.
At last, click “Add New” to add items into your quiz till it is complete; you can move to preview and share it.

How to Create a Branching Form?

Create a “Branching Form” is one of the most powerful features in Microsoft Forms, and this can be used for a highly interactive and personalized experience. It is straightforward to create.

When you are editing a question, click the three dots at the bottom right of the question, and after that, a popup menu will be open; now, you can choose “Add Branching.”
Now on the Branching Option page, you can choose which question to go to for each choice selection. 

Now you can continue selecting branching options for the other questions in the Form, and the fixed question may be “dead end.”

When you have improved your branching options, click “Back” to go to the main page.
How to Preview and Share your Complete Form?

Before you share your Form with anyone, you should preview it to ensure that it looks and works as expected. In the toolbar, you can click “Preview” at the top of the page.
When if you want to share your Form with the desired audience, then you must click “Send” in the toolbar at the top of the page, and in the panel, it appears at the right side of the page now, and you can choose how you want to share it?

When you are a part of an organization, you can use the dropdown menu to clear when it can be shared with anyone or only people in your organization, and when you are a single user, you will be able to share your Form with anyone.

Now you can choose the method of sharing your Form, such as link, QR code, embed code, or email.
How to See Response and Result?

When you shared your Form, people will start to respond, and then all the results will be compiled automatically so you can review the data at any time.
In Microsoft Form, you can click on the Form and then open it.
Now you can see the “Questions” and “Responses” tab at the top of the page, and the responses tab shows how many responses you have received.
Now you can click “Responses.”

Now you can see the complete summary of the results, which includes a graph that explains the distribution of answers for multiple-choice questions.

You can click on “More Details” to see additional details of the answers to any questions.
At last, to export the response to a spreadsheet, you can click “Open in Excel,” and then your browser will download the excel file, which you can save on a hard drive or click to open in excel file.

It cannot be used for just educators but individual and business users as well.
Users can create multiple choice questions or fill in the blanks text quiz, which calculates the result automatically.
