Nightshift
I decided to do a shoot at work as I felt it was a large part of my identity as I spend a lot of my time there. I wanted to show a more melancholy and lonely side to my job as on the nightshift you don't interact with customers and you when you leave it is pitch black, the  car park is empty and it feels very eerie. However, one thing I love about working late nights is that everyone can be themselves rather than playing their role as 'manager', 'driver' or 'customer advisor'. In order to capture my colleagues as naturally as possible I did not mention when I was taking a photo of them and didn't ask them to look at me or smile as this would result in quite posed images. At first I noticed a lot of people were apprehensive to have their photo taken when they saw me pointing my camera at them but I just moved around as they got on with their jobs and struck up different conversations with them as to get more natural portraits/photographs. I found some of my favourite photos were of people interacting with each other because at work we are like a large family and these intimate moments I captured gave a true reflection of the bond between us all.
