Nature Themed Linoprints For The Red Cross

In April 2020 a quarantine was declared in the Netherlands. As a project to keep me busy, I started learning to work with linoprinting. An art style that I had my eye on for a while. I also wanted to incorporate the idea of a zine (mini magazine with art). So I set out to make a zine using linoprinting. the zine size I had in mind was 10 pages including front and back. I made 8 prints in the theme of "nature", using the colours red and blue.
To do my part in the Corona Crisis, I decided to sell a few and donate all the proceeds to the Red Cross.

This is an inside in the process.

I started with sketching on the block, so I had an indication of what I wanted to visualize.

After I finished cutting out the designs, I tested it on some standard A4 paper.
I noticed that the paper started ripping and sticking to the block. This could have been that I didn't put enough paint on it, or that the paper should be stronger.
I started using thicker watercolour paper. It had a rough texture, which also looked very good and canvas like.
I printed a few loose cards, and some zines.
I was very satisfied and made some pictures for instagram and Facebook, to sell some copies. I sold loose cards and zines.
Despite the low pricing, I managed to make a profit of €40. As I promised, I donated everything to the Red Cross to help fight the virus in 3rd world countries.
