CMF concept for KONE

CMF concept work done for elevator and escalator manufacturer KONE in Aalto University's Sensorial and Color Design Course.

On the course we studied trend research and how to form a consistent view on future trends and how they affect the color, material and finishes in company's design strategy.
Concept work

Stainless steel is the most  common material used in elevators' surfaces due to it's good technical characteristics and durability. However, aesthetically it is very cold and intrusive.

My work focused on how to bring new dimensions and characteristics from stainless steel to be used in future elevators.

After exploring different methods I ended up choosing a combination of sanding and torching.
The final concept included 20 samples of stainless steel that were sanded with different tools and torched in different temperatures
