Sberbank Crowdsourcing: International conference

November 12, 2011 (Moscow) — The International Finance Conference “New Management Technologies: What Will Change the World?” was held in honor of the 170th anniversary of Sberbank.
Task: to organize and manage the first international crowdsourcing project of the Sberbank.
Roles in the project:
Project management: supervision of the crowdsourcing platform implementation,
PR and marketing campaigns guidance, infographic video clips and print materials
of the project results development and the participation in the preparation
of The International Finance Conference—"New Management Technologies:
    What Will Change the World?".

The conference New Management Technologies: What Will Change the World? was the first conference in Russia and the second conference in the world devoted to crowdsourcing.
Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin spoke at the conference.
“We live in exponential times when the speed of change is growing continuously. Therefore, the issues discussed at the conference (new management approaches) are of topical importance today,” noted the President and Chairman of Sberbank of Russia Herman Gref in his opening speech.

In his opinion, crowdsourcing is a major management breakthrough of the 21st century as it supports the engagement of the collective mind in dealing with global-scale challenges. Crowdsourcing is an opportunity to use the intellectual energy and potential of many people to create a better future. Herman Gref mentioned three examples of how crowdsourcing is used at Sberbank. First of all, this is the Market of Ideas where every member of Sberbank can propose optimization scenarios. About 17 bln rubles are to be saved in 2011 through the Market of Ideas. Second is crowdstaffing, i.e. the search for talented people with high potential within the bank. All 20,000 managers of Sberbank have been attested, so now the management knows their potential in detail, added Mr. Gref. The head of Sberbank mentioned one more crowdsourcing initiative: a joint charity project of Sberbank and the Gift of Life foundation, implemented in 2008 when the first charity card (VISA Gift of Life) was issued in Russia. When a cardholder purchases goods or services with the card, 6 rubles from every 1,000 rubles spent is transferred to the charity foundation helping children with leukemia. Sberbank transferred over 250 mln rubles to the Gift of Life Foundation in 2010.
Over 300 people participated in the conference: heads of international and Russian financial institutions, major companies, and leaders from the global economic community. Many prominent experts spoke at the conference: Jeff Howe, Professor of Journalism at Northeastern University, who introduced the term “crowdsourcing”, Paul Saffo, Managing Director of Foresight Discern Analytics; Thomas Malone, Professor of MIT Sloan Management School and Director of MIT Collective Intelligence Center; Beth Noveck, Professor of Law at the New York School of Law, Viktor Orlovsky, Senior Vice-President of Sberbank of Russia, and Alexander Oslon, President of the Public Opinion Foundation.

The event was broadcasted on the Rossiya-24 TV channel, and Sberbank of Russia and RIA Novosti websites.
