PROJECT OVERVIEW

This animated motion graphic logo was created using the famous IBM logo for GD3240 Motion Graphics at The Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. It is a 10 second animation that shows the IBM logo form out of the bold white lines while simulating the sounds and functions of a computer machine turning on. The various elements were created using Adobe Illustrator and pieced together as an exercise using Adobe After Effects.

METHODOLOGY

The goal of this project was to animate a 5 to 10 second motion graphic logo using assets created in Adobe Illustrator, and using them in Adobe After Effects. I chose IBM because it is one of the most iconic logos ever created. I spent sometime studying the brand and the meaning behind Paul Rand's famous logo. I added some sound effects to simulate a computer starting up which is the idea behind the animation. The individual lines move in sync or independently while the system sounds like it is starting up, ending with the sounds of typing as the tag line appears.  I kept the color palette black and white and the text matching that of the brand.
